The Origin Story of Washington Events
Washington Events has a rich origin story rooted in mentorship and community support. Our journey began with the guidance the of late Frank Russell, HR Director of Oakland County and Chairman of the Oakland County Employment Diversity Council (OCEDC). Roosevelt Frank Russell was instrumental in hiring teenagers straight out of high school, allowing them to work at Oakland County through a Co-op program. His dedication to the community and his vision for diversity in the workplace inspired the creation of the Diversity WORKS! Career Expo. By continuing this event, we hope to honor his legacy and passion for the Oakland County community. A portion of the proceeds from the event goes towards the "WE PROMISE" Scholarship fund, furthering his commitment to supporting young people in their educational and career pursuits.
